J: Cannabis Legalization in the States
Employers have been grappling with confusing cannabis laws for years — and the rules are getting tougher to navigate as more states add employment guidelines for cannabis users. Increased access to cannabis results in increased use and increased risk especially for safety sensitive employees. The number of safety sensitive employees testing positive continues to climb and CBD throws another wrench in the employment picture. We will look at cannabis and CBD through the lens of the workplace and the challenges employers and employees are facing throughout the United States.

Raimee Heyer Eck, PhD, MPH, MPAS, CPH has over 20 years of clinical and public health training and experience, focusing on the epidemiology of substance misuse and harm and translating research into effective policy. Recently she led the statewide Alcohol, Tobacco & Cannabis Network, comprised of researchers, legal experts, and community coalitions, in their efforts to advocate for science-based policies in legalizing non-medical cannabis in Maryland. Raimee received her Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and her MPH and PhD from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
